Dubai Police pump the ‘Well of Hope’

Responding to the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to participate in the ‘Well of Hope’ Competition, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has officially announced the force’s participation in the humanitarian initiative by pumping the virtual interactive pumping device.

Al Marri praised the innovative humanitarian initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, as it affirms the UAE’s global position as a beacon of humanity and an oasis for charity and humanitarian work. Adding that His Highness humanitarian initiatives have always extended a helping hand to the needy everywhere regardless of religion, colour, or race.

“Dubai Police are honoured to accept the invitation by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to participate in the ’Well of Hope’ initiative, which promotes positive and constructive competition to provide drinking water to the needy. This translates his wise and generous vision in doing good deeds and giving hope, regionally and globally, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan, which promotes the values of giving, generosity, and helping the needy,” Dubai Police Commander-in-chief added.

About The "Well of Hope
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, public and private sector employees across the UAE will get the chance to pump the largest amount of water through a mobile virtual interactive pumping device. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, MBRGI, will donate the total amounts of water pumped into the machine to people living in remote less fortunate societies with no access to clean water. The foundation’s prominent entity that tackles water scarcity is UAE Water Aid Foundation, Suqia UAE, the largest of its kind in the region, dedicated to implementing sustainable water supplying projects to areas with scarce water resources, benefitting over 8 million people across the world.

On the competition’s objectives, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, "there is a sense of goodness in every person, and a merciful and generous soul inside each of us. The aim is to remind people of the great value of water and demonstrate the difficulties hundreds of millions face to get access to water. Small gestures can make a big difference to ourselves before others."
