Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Forensic Criminology Institute in Alaska, USA. This agreement aims to enhance collaboration in research, development, training, and information exchange.

The MoU was singed by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Rashid Al Ghafri, Deputy Director of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology for Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Brent E. Turvey, Director of The Forensic Criminology Institute, in the presence of several officials from both sides.

Lt. Col. Al Ghafri praised the partnership between the two organizations, highlighting that Dubai Police is dedicated to building strong collaborations with leading educational institutions, both locally and internationally. “Such partnerships play a crucial role in exchanging expertise and practices that advance the strategic goals of both parties,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Brent E. Turvey stated,” We are proud to sign this agreement with Dubai Police to strengthen our cooperation. Dubai Police stands out as a leading law enforcement agency in the region for scientific research and strongly emphasizes its human resources, attracting exceptional talent and specialized skills across various fields.”

Expert Lina Amiri, First Certified Criminal Profiler in the Middle East, remarked, “I began implementing criminal profiling techniques using “Behavioural Evidence Analysis” method after working on several cold cases, and we achieved outstanding results that significantly advanced our investigations through this meticulous scientific approach. It became clear to us how essential it was to share this knowledge and methodology with our colleagues at Dubai Police.”

The agreement outlines a collaboration between both parties in research and development, focusing on criminal profiling, behavioural analysis, and emerging trends in forensic science and criminology. This includes producing scientific research papers, organizing joint training programs and workshops for law enforcement personnel, and establishing a platform for sharing information and insights. They will also cooperate on criminal cases reports and apply profiling protocols to assist investigations, with Profilers from Dubai Police working on cases handled by their counterparts at the Forensic Criminology Institute and vice versa.
