Dubai Police reaffirmed the critical significance of adhering to public safety regulations concerning children in vehicles to safeguard them from accidents and injuries.

His Excellency Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, urged drivers and parents to secure children in age-appropriate safety seats, ensuring that their belts are fastened. He also advised against placing children in front seats and emphasized the importance of ensuring that all doors are securely closed before starting to drive.

Al Mazrouei also stressed the significance of never leaving children unattended in vehicles, especially in the back seats. “Monitoring windows is vital to prevent children from opening or leaning out. Additionally, children should never be left alone in cars, particularly in hot weather, as this can pose serious suffocation risks,” he continued.

These safety awareness alerts follow a recent incident addressed by the General Department of Traffic, in which a five-year-old child fell from a moving vehicle on one of the emirate's streets due to a lack of proper safety precautions.

Al Mazrouei stated that initial investigations revealed the child was in the vehicle with his mother when he unexpectedly opened one of the doors, causing him to fall onto the main road and sustain several moderate bruises and injuries.

He also indicated that the vehicle was traveling at a relatively low speed, which helped mitigate the severity of the injuries. Furthermore, he highlighted that emergency response teams arrived swiftly after the report was made and promptly transported the child to the hospital for necessary medical care.

Al Mazrouei underscored the vital role of traffic awareness among community members, including drivers and parents, in enhancing road safety and reducing accidents. He noted that Dubai Police is actively implementing awareness campaigns and field initiatives in collaboration with strategic partners to address incidents arising from neglecting safety regulations and to safeguard lives.
